Week 1: Self Defense Foundations
Week 2 + 3: Wrist and Body Grab Escapes
Week 4: Strikes, Blocking and applying your new skill into real life.
Class Description:
Join us for a dynamic, beginner-friendly self-defense workshop designed to build confidence, awareness, and practical skills. In this 4 week workshop, you’ll learn simple, effective techniques to protect yourself — no prior experience needed. Wear comfortable clothing and come ready to move, learn, and connect.
Each session consists of
- 10-15 minute Introduction and Review of the Toolkit (4 step module to use in real time).
- 40-35 minutes Practice in pairs fighting techniques, escaping grabs, strikes and exiting.
- 10 minute Affirmation circle/after care, review and time for wrap-up/Q&A.
About your Practitioner:
Kiyo Kato-Driscoll is a certified self-defense instructor through Rose City Self-Defense, an Oregon state-funded program. Kiyo is also the Director of Self Defense at Femme Rising, an all-women’s martial arts studio focused on empowerment, community, and resilience.
